Active Shooter/ Hostile Event Response

The goal of our response training and policy is to provide rapid extraction, treatment, and transport to victims of a hostile mass casualty event.  Firefighters are trained to provide care to survivors in the indirect threat zone in compliance with the Southern Nevada Fire Operations ASHER committee, which develops the response policy for all Southern Nevada fire departments.  A specialized, tactical medic team program is currently under development, which would train firefighters to work closely with NLVPD SWAT and provide direct threat medical care in the ASHER environment.

Hazardous Materials

The North Las Vegas Fire Department currently responds to HAZMAT incidents at the Operations level.  North Las Vegas is home to an expanding portfolio of industries which meet the EPA Tier II reporting quantity for on-site hazardous substances.  A CBRN/ Type 3 technician level HAZMAT team is currently under development and is scheduled to be fully operational within the next five years.
