North Las Vegas Fire Department Special Operations encompasses the coordination of all fire department responses to unique, low- frequency high risk events outside of the typical fire suppression and emergency medical services calls.  These include technical rescue, active shooter/ hostile mass casualty event response and hazardous materials incidents.

The Battalion Chief in charge of Special Operations, John Wright, is also the liaison to the Southern Nevada Counterterrorism Center and a Chairman on the Southern Nevada Fire Operations ASHER committee as well as being a member of several valley-wide coordination groups to ensure consistent special operations response delivery.

Technical Rescue Team

The Technical Rescue Team is trained to provide specialized expertise and technical response to the following unusual rescue situations: swift water rescue, vehicle and machinery rescue, high and low angle rope rescue, and confined space rescue.  The team will be expanding disciplines to include trench rescue and structural collapse in the near future.
