Responsive Education Events and Programs
North Las Vegas (NLV) students, teachers and schools are a top priority for Mayor Goynes-Brown and the City Council Members. Throughout each ward in the City, schools are actively visited and programs supported. In 2022, the City Council engaged with NLV Principals to discuss and discover what was impacting their campus most. Common themes included: Student achievement, chronic absenteeism, family engagement, teacher retention, and challenges resulting from the pandemic. With this information top of mind, the City has worked to make sure that all education events and initiatives are in response to these critical areas of need.

Mayors Innovative Teaching Awards
The Mayor and City Council are proud to recognize educators in North Las Vegas schools that are implementing innovative teaching strategies with students for the purpose of achieving deeper learning. Through this recognition, it is the City's intention to promote, encourage, retain, and celebrate creative and innovative educators and teaching in North Las Vegas classrooms. The Principal of each North Las Vegas school may turn in one designee to receive this award. 2025 City of North Las Vegas Mayors Black Hair Care Product Drive
In a heartwarming celebration of Black History Month, the City of North Las Vegas continues its tradition of student and community partnership under Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown's leadership. Together with the City Council and Education Advisory Committee, this year's Black Hair Care Drive exemplified our commitment to nurturing the whole student – mind, spirit, and self-image. At its heart, this program carries a powerful message to our African American youth: your identity is beautiful, your culture is valuable, and your community stands with you. Beyond the practical support of hair care products, this initiative represents our city's ongoing dedication to being a true partner with families in nurturing their children's growth – not just academically, but in fostering self-assurance and cultural pride.
We were thrilled to have the Raiderette's organization join us in welcoming North Las Vegas K-12 school cheerleading teams to a culminating event celebrating the completion of the month-long drive. Both the Raiderette's and North Las Vegas school cheer teams contributed hair products. (2023, 2024, 2025)
