Helping North Las Vegas Students Get to and from School Safely

Every school day, North Las Vegas students walk, bike and travel near schools throughout the community. Safe crossings are an important part of helping students get to and from school safely.

The City of North Las Vegas partners with schools, families, All City Management Services (ACMS)- a private company contracted to provide crossing guard services - and other City departments to address school‑crossing and pedestrian safety concerns. Traffic engineering, enforcement, roadway maintenance and crossing‑guard operations each involve specific City departments.

If you have a concern, start by identifying what’s happening and who is best suited to address it.

Follow this guide below for more information on who to contact based on your specific concern.

When reporting a concern about a crosswalk, traffic signal, signage or roadway condition, be prepared to provide:

• School name
• Crossing intersection
• Date and approximate time
• Description of the concern
• A Crossing Guard Request form must be completed in its entirety and email schoolcrosswalksafety@cityofnorthlasvegas.com.

When reporting a concern about an existing crossing guard, be prepared to provide:

• School name
• Crossing intersection
• Date and approximate time
• Whether the concern occurred during arrival or dismissal
• Description of the concern

 Safe Routes to School 

Safe Routes to School Maps are provided by the City of North Las Vegas Public Works Traffic Operations Office. They can be reached by calling (702) 633-1264.

• Nevada law requires drivers to obey a school crossing guard’s directions or traffic-control signals and remain stopped until the roadway is clear. Violations are misdemeanors and may result in additional penalties if a violation causes a collision involving a pedestrian, bicyclist, e-bike rider, or e-scooter rider.
