The City of North Las Vegas Charter Committee was established during the 2021 Nevada Legislative Session. The Charter Committee reviews the North Las Vegas City Charter and advises the City Council of its recommendations regarding proposed amendments to the Charter ahead of each upcoming Nevada Legislative Session.


The Charter Committee shall meet, at minimum, at 4:00 p.m. on the fourth Monday in June of every even year or at the request of the City Council or the Chair of the Committee.

 Composition

  • Thirteen members
  • Two members appointed by the Mayor.
  • Two members appointed by the Mayor pro tempore.
  • Three members appointed by each remaining Councilmember.
  • Two members appointed by the majority party in the Nevada State Senate.
  • One member appointed by the minority party of the Nevada State Senate.
  • Two members appointed by the majority party in the Nevada State Assembly.
  • One member appointed by the minority party in the Nevada State Assembly.
  • Must reside in the City of North Las Vegas during their term and be a registered voter of the City.
  • Terms are concurrent with the term of the person or persons by whom the member was appointed.

Duties of the members:

  • Recommends amendments of the Charter that are presented to the City Council.
