Passports are processed by the U.S. Department of State. The Office of the City Clerk performs in-person application review and acceptance before forwarding your documents to the U.S. Department of State for processing. You do not need to be a North Las Vegas resident to use this service.

The Office of the City Clerk is experienced with complex applications (e.g., delayed birth, birth abroad). Please complete and print (single sided only) a Passport Application (Form DS-11) prior to your visit. Please use a black ink pen and print legibly when filling out the form by hand.

Effective May 7, 2025, U.S. travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities.

Beware of companies claiming they can expedite your passport for charging for an application. These may be scams and may put your information at risk. Customers traveling in 14 days or less can use an authorized hand carry company. Please research the requirements for hand carry online as the City of North Las Vegas cannot endorse or recommend a specific company. 

Adult renewals of passports which are current or expired less than 5 years may be renewed by mail without an agent on form DS-82, please click here to see if you qualify and to get instructions. The City of North Las Vegas does not process DS-82 forms.

1. Proof of U.S. citizenship:
   • Birth certificate showing birth in the United States, (must include full name of parent); or
   • Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550); or
   • Certificate of Citizenship (Form N-560); or
   • Report of Birth Abroad of United States Citizen (Form FS-240); or
   • Valid U.S. passport.

1. Both parents and child must be present to process application 
   • One parent and the child may appear and present documentation of sole legal guardianship
   • One parent and the child may appear with an original Statement of Consent (Form DS-3053) signed by the absent parent and notarized, as well as a copy of the absent parent’s valid ID front and back.

Department of State fees must be paid by check or money order.

There is a $35.00 processing fee per application, payable to the City of North Las Vegas. This fee can be paid with debit/credit card or money order.

In addition, you can have passport photos taken at our office for $17.00 per application. This fee can be paid with debit/credit card or money order.

Photocopies of your official documents are required. There is an additional $2.00 convenience fee if you require photocopies from our office. 

Do not combine the City of North Las Vegas fees with your U.S. Dept. of State payment or the payment will be rejected.

The U.S. passport card facilitates entry and expedites document processing at U.S. land and seaports-of-entry when arriving from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. The card may not be used to travel by air. It will otherwise carry the rights and privileges of the U.S. passport book and will be adjudicated to the exact same standards.        

A passport book is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S. passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. Only the U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue or verify United States Passports.

• Pupils and irises must be clearly visible

• Full face must be visible and free of shadows

• Neutral facial expression with both eyes open and mouth closed

• Hair must not obscure the face

• Glasses must be removed, even if routinely worn

• Uniforms, such as military or police, must not be worn

• Camouflage clothing should not be worn

• Religious clothing worn daily may be worn, but must not obscure the face

• No hats or head coverings, except for religious purposes. A signed statement regarding religious headgear must be requested.

• Photo must not show headphones or a wireless device, such as Bluetooth headset or earbuds

• Photo must not be retouched or contain a filter.

You can check your application processing status on the Department of State website 7-10 business days after submitting your passport application.
