Pre-Construction – This guideline was developed to highlight some pre-construction code requirements that that need to be addressed before actual construction commences.

New Project & Construction– This guideline was developed in an effort to assist those responsible for the design of new projects and buildings, to highlight some of the frequently missed code requirements. This guideline does not cover all codes and standards required for every project but is intended to be used for guidance.

Alternate Materials and Methods (AMMR)To submit for an Alternate Materials and Methods design, please complete the Application for Alternate Materials and Methods application below, including the Architect or Engineer Seal stamp. Once completed, upload the Alternate Materials and Methods document to the affiliated permit through the Permit Application Center and notify the Fire Protection Specialist that is has been submitted and is ready for review and approval.

Fire Protection ReportWhen a Fire Protection Report (FPR) is required per City of North Las Vegas 2018 Fire Code Amendment 104.12, please see the guideline below for further information. Fire Protection Reports are considered technical assistance and are generally requested and developed to assist and aid the fire code official in determining the acceptability of technologies, processes, products, facilities, materials and uses attending the design, operation or use of a building or premises subject to inspection by the fire code official. Once completed, upload the Fire Protection Report under a separate fire permit through our Permit Application Center.

In-Building Riser – A Fire Permit is required for all In-Building Riser installations. Please complete and upload the In-Building Riser Application  in place of the standard Fire Protection Application along with all other related information to the Permit Application Center. Make sure to include your Nevada State Fire Marshal Office GU number on the application.

Fire Sprinklers A fire permit is required for all new sprinkler installations or any modifications of existing systems. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and all other related information to the Permit Application Center. The following City of North Las Vegas Fire Prevention Sprinkler General Notes must be printed on the first page of all sprinkler systems plans.

Fire Sprinkler Modification A fire permit is required for sprinkler additions, demolition, or modifications to an existing automatic fire sprinkler system. A letter in lieu of plans may be submitted if the project consists of 10 sprinkler heads or less. Depending on the scope of work, a set of plans may still be required. Kitchen Hood Suppression System A fire permit is required for the installation of a kitchen hood suppression system.  Please complete and upload a fire protection application and all other related information to the Permit Application Center.  For further information, please see the following Kitchen Hood Suppression System Submittal Guideline.

Fire Alarm A fire permit is required for all new fire alarm installations or any modifications of existing systems. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and all other related information to the Permit Application Center. Carbon Dioxide System for Beverage Dispensing – A fire permit is required for the installation of a carbon dioxide system for beverage dispensing. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and all other related information to the Permit Application Center.  For further information, please see the Carbon Dioxide System for Beverage Dispensing Guideline.

Monitoring Systems A fire permit is required for the installation of a monitoring system and all related equipment. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and all other related information to the Permit Application Center. For further information, please see the Monitoring System Submittal Guideline.

Traffic Calming Devices A fire permit is required for the installation of any traffic calming device. Please complete and upload a fire protection application, along with a site plan showing the traffic calming device location(s) and all other related information to the Permit Application Center. High Piled Combustible Storage – A construction permit is required for certain high-piled storage conditions. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and any other pertinent submittal information to the Permit Application Center. Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERRC) Systems  A construction permit is required for the installation, modification, or decommission of an emergency responder radio coverage system and related equipment per section 510.3 of the 2018 International Fire Code. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and any other related submittal information to the Permit Application Center. For further information, please see the Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERRCS) Guideline. NOTE: This guideline is currently a draft and is awaiting for new Fire Code adoption.

Access Gates – A construction permit it required for the installation of a gate that obstructs a fire apparatus road. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and all other related information to the Permit Application Center. For more information, please see the Access Gate Submittal Guideline.

Marijuana Operations Any building, facility space or similar location that requires any construction, modifications or similar work that is associated with a proposed Marijuana Cultivation (Grow), Production, or Laboratory facility shall obtain the appropriate construction permits for such work. Please complete and upload a fire protection application and all other related information to the Permit Application Center.
