Film Permits
The City of North Las Vegas welcomes motion picture and television productions and is committed to supporting the creative industry while ensuring public safety, operational coordination, and regulatory compliance.
Pursuant to North Las Vegas Municipal Code Chapter 5.34. Motion Picture and Television Productions, any individual or company seeking to film within city limits must obtain a valid film permit and adhere to all requirements outlined below.
Applications must be submitted in person or by mail. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Submissions received after 5:00 p.m. will be processed on the following business day. All required materials listed below must be included at the time of application.
Application Timeline
Applications must be submitted to the Business License Division no less than 14 business days prior to the proposed start date of filming. This time frame allows for coordination with all necessary City departments, revision of applicable agreements, and scheduling of supervisory and security personnel as needed.
Required Documentation
The following items must be submitted along with the completed Film Permit Application:
1. Completed Temporary Permit Application Form
Submit the official Motion Picture and Television Production Temporary Permit Application.
2. General Liability Insurance or Indemnity Bond
Provide a valid certificate of insurance from a company authorized to operate in Nevada, listing the City of North Las Vegas as an additional insured. Coverage must include:

Property damage: Minimum $100,000 per occurrence

Bodily injury or death: Minimum $500,000 per person / $1,000,000 per occurrence
Alternatively, a comprehensive indemnity bond from a Nevada-authorized surety may be submitted in place of an insurance policy. The bond must indemnify the City against all claims resulting from the production’s operations, with coverage meeting or exceeding the limits above.
3. Equipment Listing
A complete list of all production-related equipment, as required by NLVMC 5.34.060 B 5.
4. Permit Fee
A non-refundable fee of $40.00 per calendar month, or any part thereof.
5. Police Department Coordination
Applicants must contact the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-1753 no less than one week prior to the approved filming date to arrange for appropriate law enforcement presence. All fees and invoicing for police services will be managed directly by the Police Department.
6. Traffic Control Requirements
If your production involves traffic disruptions:

Barricade plans must be submitted at least 72 hours in advance for review by the City and/or Nevada Department of Transportation.

Contact Public Works – Traffic Control Division at (702) 633-1938 for assistance.

All road closures must be approved by the City Traffic Engineer, and emergency services must be notified at least 48 hours prior to closure.

Productions requiring off-hours Traffic Operations staff will be billed according to City and union labor rates.

Additional traffic control measures may require coordination with the North Las Vegas Police Department and/or State Police.
7. Nevada Film Office Registration

In accordance with Nevada State Law NRS 231.128, all production companies must register with the Nevada Film Office prior to beginning any motion picture production within the State of Nevada. Registration is required and free of charge. You may complete the registration form online by visiting the Nevada Film website. 5.34.040 — Exemptions
A. The provision of this chapter shall not apply to the filming of news events concerning those persons, scenes, or occurrences which are in the news and of general public interest.
B. No permit shall be required for shooting of a film or video tape from a position on a public sidewalk when such activity does not impede other lawful use thereof and is for a period of time of less than one hour duration in any twelve (12) hour period.
