Post Date:12/03/2025 5:31 p.m.

North Las Vegas, Nev. (Dec. 3, 2025) – The North Las Vegas Mayor and City Council awarded $250,000 in microgrants to local educators during the City Council meeting on Wednesday. The initiative, now in its fourth year, underscores the City's commitment to supporting local educators and enhancing the educational experience for North Las Vegas students.

Thirty-eight educators from 25 schools across every ward in the city received grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. The grants will directly impact nearly 18,000 students across the city. The funds will be used to support innovative projects designed to improve student outcomes, increase family engagement and improve teacher retention. This year, the program also includes college and career readiness as a key priority area.

“This reflects our commitment to ensuring North Las Vegas students are prepared for multiple pathways to success, whether through four-year universities, technical training programs or direct entry into the workforce,” said Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown.

Awarded projects include hands-on STEM experiences for middle school students, simulated work environments for special education classrooms, community cultural celebrations and more.

This is the City's fourth year awarding education micro grants. Since 2022, North Las Vegas has invested $920,000 in the program, funding innovative projects that have launched food and supply pantries, literacy events, step-dancing programs and more. These initiatives have been shown to decrease absences, increase academic collaboration and strengthen family engagement.
