Christopher Cannon Sworn in as North Las Vegas Municipal Court Judge
Christopher Cannon was formally sworn in as the Municipal Judge in Department 1 of the North Las Vegas Municipal Court during an investiture ceremony held at the Nov. 19 City Council Meeting.
Cannon fills the vacancy created when Judge Chris Lee retired from the bench on Oct. 10, 2025. The Mayor and City Council appointed Cannon as municipal judge at the Nov. 5 city council meeting for a term ending on Nov. 30, 2026.
“Christopher Cannon will bring tremendous knowledge and expertise to the municipal court, between his experience in criminal defense, family and employment law and his history in responding to community concerns as a 25-year veteran of the North Las Vegas Police Department,” said Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown. “His diverse background gives Judge Cannon a unique perspective on the reasons people turn to crime and will enable him to preside over the court with fairness, balance and equity.”
Cannon earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and his Bachelor of Arts from Loyola Marymount University. His professional experience includes General Counsel for the Nevada Association of Public Safety Officers and Partner/Attorney in the Law Offices of Christopher Cannon. Cannon was also a sworn officer with the North Las Vegas Police Department for 25 years.
