Municipal Court Judge Chris Lee Retires
Judge Chris Lee, the Municipal Judge in Department 1 of the North Las Vegas Municipal Court, announced his retirement effective Oct. 9, 2025.
The North Las Vegas City Council expanded the City’s municipal court from one department to two in February 2021 to established the CARE (Community Approach to Rehabilitation and Engagement) Court as a diversionary court to reduce recidivism and promote rehabilitation of low-level offenders by addressing factors that contribute to criminal behavior, specifically mental health and addiction.
Of the 175 participants who have graduated from the CARE Court, about 60% identify as members of racial or ethnic minority groups, highlighting the program’s impact on historically underserved populations.
“Judge Lee facilitated City Council’s vision to help offenders get their lives back on a positive track through the North Las Vegas CARE Court,” said Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown. “On behalf of my fellow city council members, we wish Chris a happy and well-deserved retirement.”
