North Las Vegas Hosting Two Free Back-to-School Events to Support Local Families

With the first day of school just around the corner, the City of North Las Vegas is stepping up to help local families with two free events offering school supplies, entertainment and community support.

City leaders are inviting students and families to gear up for the new school year with a pool party celebration and a school supply giveaway designed to make sure every student starts the year prepared and confident.

Ride the Wave Back to School Pool Party

  • WHO: City of North Las Vegas, Mayor Pro Tem Scott Black, Clark County Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick
  • WHAT: A free back-to-school pool party featuring a live DJ, games, raffles, free backpacks and food (while supplies last)
  • WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 2 12-3 p.m.
  • WHERE: Silver Mesa Recreation Center Pool, 4025 Allen Ln. North Las Vegas, NV 89032
  • WHY: Surf’s up, summer is coming to an end, but not before we hang-ten! No wipe outs at this party, celebrate with us as we say goodbye to summer.

Back to School Supplies Giveaway

  • WHO: City of North Las Vegas, Councilman Isaac Barron, Councilwoman Ruth Garcia-Anderson
  • WHAT: A free school supply distribution event for students of all ages
  • WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 9, 8-11 a.m.
  • WHERE: Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St. North Las Vegas, NV 89030
  • WHY: To ensure local students have the tools they need to start the year strong.

DETAILS: Both events are free and open to the public. School supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. For more information, please call 702-633-1012.
