Partnership between Agora Realty & Management and the Vegas Golden Knights to Boost Youth Hockey Programming and Community Opportunities in North Las Vegas
Partnership is Part of North Las Vegas’ Latest Redevelopment Project
North Las Vegas, NV (October 25, 2023) – Agora Realty & Management (Agora) announced that the Vegas Golden Knights will provide management and programming for the existing ice arena in North Las Vegas. The developer owns the arena as part of a larger redevelopment planned for the area.
The ice arena is within a 73-acre site where the Texas Station and Fiesta Rancho casinos once stood. The entire site is being developed by Agora into a wide-ranging mixed-use pedestrian friendly shopping, entertainment, commercial and residential housing development. Plans for the development include a variety of housing options such as apartments, townhomes, and detached single-family homes, adding much needed residential units for city residents. Also included will be a family-oriented athletic complex – Champion Square – consisting of the existing ice rink along with other sports-programmed buildings, shops, restaurants, and public spaces.
The Golden Knights have supported youth hockey in Southern Nevada, including new construction of arenas in Summerlin and Henderson. “We are thrilled to support the incredible growth of North Las Vegas and help to build their community hockey programs,” said President and CEO Kerry Bubolz. “Youth hockey participation across Nevada has more than quadrupled since the arrival of the Golden Knights and we look forward to seeing more of that growth right here in North Las Vegas.”
“This historic partnership marks a pivotal moment for North Las Vegas, the largest minority-majority city in Nevada and one of the most diverse cities in the United States. For the first time in our city’s history, a professional sports team is bringing their expertise and resources to our community, reflecting our commitment to fostering growth, recreation and opportunity across North Las Vegas,” said North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown.
The Vegas Golden Knights will begin programming as of November 20. Their youth hockey opportunities include everything from Learn to Skate to the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights travel program.
“North Las Vegas is an exciting forward-thinking community that has been a fantastic partner for us. This is just the beginning of what we are going to be able to bring to the city,” said Agora CEO Cary Lefton.
Agora is also leading North Las Vegas’ largest Redevelopment Agency project in the history of the city, encompassing redevelopment of 19 acres along the downtown Lake Mead and Las Vegas Boulevard corridor. The new pedestrian-focused mixed-use development for North Las Vegas’ downtown includes medical offices and health care facilities, shops, restaurants, parks, housing, and public spaces where the community can gather.
North Las Vegas has captured the interest of developers for many reasons, including the fact that the area benefits from large tracts of land with proximity to a great labor pool supported by a business-friendly environment. For this reason, the city has benefited from phenomenal growth and investment. Over the past ten years, the city has recruited companies to North Las Vegas that created more than 63,000 new jobs.
