About the Southern Nevada Urban Micro Academy

The City of North Las Vegas is pleased to announce the launch of the Southern Nevada Urban Micro Academy (SNUMA).

SNUMA opens Monday, August 24, coinciding with the first day of instruction for the Clark County School District. This groundbreaking program provides education support to children during the fall semester.

Children attending SNUMA will have two options. First, SNUMA will provide education support to children who are being homeschooled. This includes students who are currently being homeschooled, or those children who chose to begin homeschooling. This option is available to children in grades 1-8. These children have the option to follow online homeschooling lessons aligned with Nevada Academic Content Standards with live in-room support from a trained guide, along with enrichment and extracurricular activities. Learning pod sizes are capped at 18 children per room. Children can attend for $2 per day. Need-based scholarships are available. Parents/Guardians of children in the homeschooling option assume full responsibility for the education of the child while the child is being homeschooled.

SNUMA also provides support to CCSD students in grades K-8. This option provides a place for students to go to attend CCSD online classes with in-person support from trained guides in a classroom setting. Students will also receive enrichment and extracurricular activities during the school day. Class sizes are capped at 18 students per teacher. Students can attend for $20 per day. Need-based scholarships are available.

Additionally, the City of North Las Vegas will provide learning space for homeschooling co-ops, commonwealths, and other education groups.

Safekey programming and care before and after school hours is also available.

The Southern Nevada Urban Micro Academy follows SNHD and CDC best practices, and abides by all directives from the State, including mandated face coverings, socially-distant classroom seating, and frequent cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms and facilities.
