The purpose of the Latino Community Connection is to facilitate, increase, and reinforce communication between the Spanish speaking residents of North Las Vegas and the Police Department. The Latino Community Connection has the following goals:

  • Establish a partnership with the Latino community of NLV.
  • Obtain input from the Latino community on their concerns.
  • Educate the Latino community about crime prevention topics and services, and provide valuable resource information to enhance their quality of life.
  • Offer an open forum to NLV Spanish speaking residents to present concerns, and obtain answers to their questions through the Latino Community Connection Quarterly Meetings.
  • Offer Spanish speaking residents of NLV and surrounding areas an opportunity to participate in the Hispanic Citizens Academy (HCA), which provides students with firsthand information and insight about the NLVPD and its officers. The next session of the Hispanic Citizens Academy is scheduled for September 20, 2017 through November 15, 2017, every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m.9:00 p.m., for nine consecutive weeks.
