This program is a recreational enrichment program for children, designed to meet the needs of the working parent. Safekey is staffed by trained recreation leaders. The program consists of an activity or game period, sports, arts and crafts, and special events. The Safekey program also operates various camps throughout the school year. This program corresponds with the Clark County School District calendar.
Note: This program is administered by the City of North Las Vegas Recreation Department, your school office may help you with information but cannot register your child. Check with your individual Safekey site for specific hours of operation and fees or call the Safekey office at 633-1608.

Safekey Office: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 6:00pm
Grades: K - 5th Grade
Program Hours: 7:00am to 8:45am - Selected Sites Open at 6:00am
After school until 6:00pm
Extended Afternoon Program: 2:00pm until 6:00pm
How do I register my child?
Participants may be registered at your child’s school in the Multi-Purpose room during SAFEKEY program hours. Participation forms must be completed by the parents or guardians before your child can attend the program. An annual $10.00 administrative processing fee will apply for each new Safekey enrollment. SAFEKEY SITES NO LONGER ACCEPT PAYMENTS IN CASH OR CHECK, THEY DO ACCEPT CREDIT CARD AND DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS. Payments in cash or check can be made at the Neighborhood Recreation Center or at Silver Mesa Recreation Center.
Safekey is a structured before and after school program for K-5th grade children.
Safekey is offered at school sites and provides a variety of activities and social events
such as arts and crafts, fitness activities and physical games that are facilitated by
Children may work on homework during supervised free time during the hours of
safekey but we cannot enforce the completion of homework or ensure that it is
done correctly. Safekey is a recreation based program, we do not offer tutoring or
homework help. This is to ensure that children are not misadvised on homework.
You must sign your child in and out daily. The person who is scheduled to pick up your
child must be listed on the participation form and they must show proper identification.
Every child must have a new Safekey participation form on file for the 2016-2017
Children are encouraged to wear closed toed athletic shoes daily. Flip flops and
sandals are not advised for indoor or outdoor active play.
Payment is required before or on the day that services are rendered.
A $10 late pick-up fee is assessed for every 10-minute increment the child stays past
the scheduled program time, beginning at 6:01 p.m. The late fee is due at the time of
pick up or before the participant returns to the program.

conjunction with Fun Zone. Please note that any school with scheduled half days
or parent-teacher conference days may offer an extended Safekey
program based on CNLV Safekey staffing availability and adequate advance
notice. More details will be provided in advance.
