Library Card Information

 library card application

North Las Vegas/Clark County residents may receive a free library card.  A library card opens up a world of information and entertainment!  In addition to borrowing books, DVDs, CDs and magazines, your library card allows you to download digital materials, use electronic databases, take home a Wi-Fi hotspot, take online classes, use library computers, and so much more!

Picture ID & Address Verification

To obtain a library card, you will need to present a valid government issued picture ID which verifies your name, current physical address and signature.

  • Nevada Driver's License or Nevada Identification Card
  • Government issued ID cards (including Military Identification)
  • Passport

If your current physical address is not listed on your photo ID, please bring one of the following documents:

  • Recent utility bill (e.g. electric, cable, phone, water)
  • Vehicle registration or proof of insurance
  • Preprinted checks

Youth Library Card

Patrons under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present to obtain a library card. The parent or legal guardian must provide valid government issued ID and sign the application in-person to obtain a library card for a minor child. By signing the application, the parent or legal guardian accepts financial responsibility for materials checked out by the minor child and acknowledges that it is his or her responsibility to guide the selection of materials checked out.

Lost/Stolen Library Card

Your first library card is free. Because the card owner is responsible for any item checked out on the card, be sure to notify the library immediately if your card is lost or stolen. There is a $1.00 charge to replace a lost/stolen card.

Borrower Responsibilities

  • If you change your address, email address, etc., notify the library on your next visit.
  • If your library card is lost or stolen, it is very important to notify the library as soon as possible since you are still responsible for items checked out on your card.
  • When checking out, your library card or government issued photo ID must be presented.
  • When an item checked out on your account is lost, you will be charged the cost of the item, any accrued overdue fines, plus a processing fee.
  • Library card replacement fee is $1.
  • Your library card may be used at any North Las Vegas Library or any Las Vegas Clark County Library.
  • By signing your library card, you agree to the North Las Vegas Library District’s Lending Policies.

Materials may be renewed provided there are no outstanding requests and you have a valid library card in good standing (less than $2 in fees and no overdue items). DVDs are limited to 1 renewal.  All other materials may be renewed 3 times.

You may renew items online by logging into your account, or by visiting your nearest library branch.

Checked out materials may be returned to any North Las Vegas Library District branch or any Las Vegas Clark County Branch.

Requests (Holds)

Titles may be placed on hold, provided that no overdue items exist on your card and fines do not exceed $2. There is a limit of 25 items on request at a time.

Notices and Email Notification

As a courtesy, the library sends overdue and hold pick-up notices via email. To register or change your current email address, please visit your nearest library branch, or log into your account and select My Information.  For those patrons without email, only billing notices will be sent via postal mail.  A bill includes the cost of the lost items, processing and replacement charges and possible collection agency service fees.

Accounts owing a minimum balance of $40 will be referred to a collection agency. A nonrefundable collection fee of $10 will be assessed to your account when it is referred to a collection agency.  Status of items on hold can be obtained by calling the library.
