The City of North Las Vegas, in conjunction with the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority and in partnership with a number of collaborative non-profit agencies and institutions, submitted a funding application for a Choice Neighborhood Initiative (CNI) Planning Grant.
The Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant is part of a Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) funded initiative that focuses on assisting comm unties to develop successful neighborhood transformation plans and build the support necessary for that plan to be successfully implemented
This is a 2 year planning grant that will pay an important part in our efforts to revitalize the neighborhoods in the Choice focus area, which includes the Rose Gardens on the east and Buena Vista Springs on the west.

Choice Neighborhoods is focused on 3 core goals:
Housing: Replace distressed public and assisted housing with high-quality mixed income housing that is well-managed and responsive to the needs of the surrounding neighborhood;
People: Improve educational outcomes and intergenerational mobility for youth and supports services delivered directly to youth and their families; and
Neighborhood: Create the conditions necessary for public and private reinvestment in distressed neighborhoods by offering the kind of amenities and assets, including safety, good schools, and commercial activity, that are important to families and their community.
