Battalion Chief Donovan Hansen was hired by the City of North Las Vegas Fire Department (NLVFD) in 1994 and has more than 26 years of fire service experience. He currently holds the position of Battalion Chief over the Training Division and has previously served as a Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, and Battalion Chief. Donovan has also served as a Firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and worked five seasons as member of the National Ski Patrol prior to joining the NLVFD. 
Battalion Chief Hansen studied Business Management at the University of South Dakota, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He has also studied at the College of Southern Nevada, earning both an Associates of Applied Science in Fire Service Management, and an Associates of Applied Science an Urban Firefighting. Donovan holds Nevada State Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I, II, & III, Fire Instructor I & II, and Incident Safety Officer I. Additionally, he has taken several classes through FEMA and the National Fire Academy.

Battalion Chief Hansen is an active member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1607, International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association. Health and physical fitness has always been a top priority for Donovan. During his career, he has twice won “The World’s Toughest Fire Fighter” competition and set two World Records in the Fire Fighter Combat Challenge.
