The Accounting/Treasury Division is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information to the public, bondholders, grantors, auditors, the City Council, and management.  Such financial reporting information includes the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), for which the City won a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).  The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.  The City of North Las Vegas has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement every year since 1981.

Other accounting responsibilities of this division include processing payroll for more than 1,500 employees and the corresponding reporting requirements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reporting of the City’s capital assets, grant accounting, and maintaining the financial integrity of the City’s general ledger.

The division’s specific treasury responsibilities include debt administration, including maintaining the City’s Debt Management Policy and the corresponding reporting requirements associated with the issuance of municipal debt.  Other treasury responsibilities include cash management, investment of the City’s portfolio, and special improvement district administration.
