The Criminal Division prosecutes persons who are cited for violating misdemeanor laws of the city and state, including traffic, code enforcement, domestic batteries, and first and second offense driving under the influence violations. The Criminal Division also provides information services to victims and witnesses so that they will understand and support the criminal justice process. Attorneys who work at the Criminal Division work closely with the Victim/Witness Advocates to review cases and share information to better serve those affected by crime. Additionally, when a misdemeanor offense has occurred, and the suspect is not arrested, the City Attorney reviews the merits of a case to determine prosecution.
