Qiong Liu Named North Las Vegas City Manager


North Las Vegas, Nevada -
 Mayor John J. Lee and the North Las Vegas City Council selected Dr. Qiong X. Liu, as City Manager for the City of North Las Vegas during last night’s City Council meeting.  Qiong has 30 years of experience in economics, transportation, engineering, land development and public works.  The City Council was unanimous in their praise of Dr. Liu’s qualifications.

“Dr. Liu is a consummate professional, a brilliant manager, and a respected leader who will help take this city to the next level,” said Mayor John J. Lee. “On behalf of the City Council I am thrilled to have Dr. Liu remain at the helm of this city as our permanent city manager and I look forward to working with her on exciting new projects that will transform our city and the entire region.”
Born and raised in Beijing, Qiong graduated from college at the age of 21 with top ranking in her class. Dr. Liu has a strong educational background and a broad range of professional experience. She holds a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, a Master's degree in transportation economics, and a Ph.D. degree in civil/systems engineering. She is a long-time member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the American Public Works Association (APWA), and International City Manager Association (ICMA). During the past 15 years living in the Valley, Qiong has served the Las Vegas community as an active member of numerous committees and working groups, including the Executive Advisory Committee to the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), the Technical Advisory Committee to the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, the RTC’s Travel Demand Modeling and Forecasting Subcommittee, etc.
