HOW SOON AFTER AN ACCIDENT CAN I GET A COPY OF THE REPORT AND HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTING IT?
The answer to this is very dependant upon the type of injuries that occurred during the accident. It works best to wait at least ten calendar days before requesting a copy. This allows the report to get through the many levels of review within the Police Department.
You may call the North Las Vegas Police Department Records Division at (702) 633-1715 to see if your accident report is available. This number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please provide the case number given to you at the time of the accident. If you do not know your case number, please be prepared to give date, time, and location of the accident, as well as your name.
Accident reports cost $5.00 per each report. You may only pay with one of these options: cash, debit card, credit card, cashier's check, or money order. Reports can only be picked up at the Records Division, located at 1301 E. Lake Mead Blvd. North Las Vegas, NV 89030 (Corner of Lake Mead and Bruce Streets). The office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Once arriving at the Records Division, you will need to show valid identification (example: government issued driver’s license or government issued identification card). Your name must appear on the report and it must match the identification in order for the report to be released to you.
You may also request a report by mail. Please include a photocopy of your government issued identification plus a cashier’s check or money order in the amount of $5.00. Please do not send cash as it is not trackable and could be lost in transit. Reports will be mailed to the address that you provide with your request. Reports requested by mail are usually processed within seven days of receipt, providing the report is available. Send requests by mail to the North Las Vegas Police Department, C/O Records Division, 1301 E. Lake Mead Blvd., North Las Vegas, NV 89030.
