Is there a cost associated with the written test?

Your written score is good for one calendar year through the National Testing Network, provided you achieved a 70% or higher on each of the three sections of the written exam. You will need to gather the following “Original” documents; birth certificate, high school transcript or GED transcript (in a sealed envelope), official college transcript (in a sealed envelope), DD-214 (if applicable), valid driver license with current address, social security card, selective service card (males under 27), proof of U.S. Citizenship (if born abroad), all marriage/divorce/name change documents, all criminal/civil documents (if applicable), proof of registration and insurance on all owned vehicles and your modified questionnaire (entry level only).
Do I need to live in the City of North Las Vegas to become a NLVPD Officer?
No, however, per department policy, you must live within a 25 mile radius from the center of
the city.
Do I get paid while I'm in the academy?
Yes. You start earning a salary/benefits the day you are hired.
When can I complete a ride along?
Once you have passed the physical agility test and received approval from the background unit.
How should I dress for my interviews?
All applicants should dress in business attire (suits are preferred), clean shaven (men) and shoes in good serviceable condition.
