Project Scope: This project consists of the design and construction to widen North 5th Street to 150 feet. Project includes construction of three lanes in each direction, a four span bridge to carry North 5th over I-15, UPRR, and the nearby flood channel. This project will include construction of a single span bridge over Losee Road, and a three span bridge over Cheyenne Avenue. The Phase II portion of North 5th has been divided: Phase IIA is from Carey Ave to the north abutment of the I-15 bridge. Phase IIB is from the I-15 bridge to Cheyenne Ave. Project Status, as of December 31, 2009: (updated on a quarterly basis) Phase IIA: The 90% design package is under review. The NDOT pre-occupancy permit is in process. The City's Planning Dept is currently developing aesthetic recommendations for the I-15 bridge. PW Staff is working with FHWA on environmental clearance issues. The City has applied for $35 million is TIGER grants for 1-15 Crossing. Phase IIB: The 70% design package is on-hold until right-of-way acquisition and construction funding is available from RTC.
