Civilian Employees

Benefits - Police Dept Civilian Employees

COMPETITIVE SALARIES
Civilian positions are hired at a salaries from between $32,416.61 and $123,087.41, depending upon the job, plus benefits and shift differential if applicable, as of July 1, 2008.

OVERTIME
Overtime rate shall be paid for employees at one and one-half (1-1/2) times the regular hourly wage rate for all hours:

1) Worked beyond nine (9) in a day;
2) Worked beyond thirty six (36) in a week.

COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT
Annual base salaries shall increase in accordance with the following schedule:
Pay period which includes July 1, 2008 - 4.0%

Pay period which includes July 1, 2009 - 4.0%

Pay period which includes July 1, 2010 - 4.0%

SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL
Swing Shift 4%
Graveyard 6% (If shift begins from 6:00 p.m. or after)

CALL BACK AND STAND BY PAY
When called back to work or placed on stand by in case of call back employees are entitled to additional compensation on top of their normal salary.

Annual leave is subject to conditions defined in appropriate Ordinance or labor agreements.

SICK LEAVE ACCRUAL
Sick leave will be accrued to permanent full time employees at the rate of 4.15384 hours bi-weekly.

SICK LEAVE SELL BACK
Will be in accordance with City Policy but will allow an employee to sell back any sick leave above a set base amount.

OTHER LEAVES ALLOWED
Family and Medical Leave
Jury Duty
Military Leave
Court Time
Bereavement Leave

Emergency Leave

TWELVE LEGAL HOLIDAYS OFF PER YEAR


FLOATING HOLIDAY
In addition to the holidays listed above on July 1, of each year, each employee will receive one holiday as a floating, non-accruable holiday which must be taken prior to June 30th of the succeeding year.

MEAL AND REST PERIOD BREAKS
Each employee receives an unpaid meal period of 30 to 60 minutes. In addition they get a 15 minute rest break for every four (4) hours worked.

SHIFTS

Day Shift - Commencing 4:00 A.M. or after  
Swing Shift - Commencing 12:00 Noon.or after  
Graveyard Shift - Commencing 6:00 P.M.or after  

UNIFORMS
Employees required to wear uniforms shall have four of them assigned and provided by the City with annual replacement of items as needed.

MEDICAL INSURANCE
Employees may elect to be covered by one of the two medical group benefit plans including Health, Dental and Vision. The City picks up 100% of the cost for these benefits.

BILINGUAL PROFICIENCY/COMPENSATION PROGRAM

$750.00 paid annually for those employees conversant in a second language.

LIFE INSURANCE

$20,000 life insurance with double indemnity for accidental death for every employee of the barganining unit is provided by the City.
