Natural Access Control

Concept directed to decrease crime opportunity by denying access to crime targets, and creating in offenders a perception of risk. Natural Access Control is promoted through the use of deadbolt locks, security alarms, gates, and landscaping.

    Tips for Natural Access Control:

  • Access points to property should be minimal, and be visually and/or electronically monitored
  • Roof should not be easily accessible
  • Equipping windows/doors with secondary locks
  • Lock the gate to your yard
  • Consider installation of Security gates, alarms, kiosks (manned with a guard), etc.

Electronic access by proxy card and/or pin controls access, and logs property users for areas needing to be secured.
It would be easy for a burglar to enter this patio door by breaking the glass and unlocking the deadbolt. Locate locks at least 40 inches away from glass.
