Deputy Chief Michael Rose grew up in the Las Vegas Valley, graduating from Clark High School in 1976. He began his law enforcement career as a deputy sheriff with the Nye County Sheriff's department, and has been with the North Las Vegas Police Department since July 1985.  Having started as a lateral officer, he has worked his way through a variety of assignments as listed below:

* Narcotics Officer
* Narcotics Liaison Officer, assigned to the Federal Drug Enforcement Task Force
* Patrol Sergeant
* Detective Bureau Sergeant
* Narcotics Sergeant
* Training Sergeant
* Internal Affairs Sergeant
* Internal Affairs Lieutenant

* Citizens Academy Commander

* Special Projects Lieutenant

* Patrol Operations Captain

* Northwest Area Command Captain

In 2005 he attended the Northwestern University Executive Management Program.

His current assignment is Deputy Chief of the Investigative Command.
