Captain Powell has been employed with the NLVPD since February 1992. He began his career in correctional law enforcement with the State of Nevada in September 1985.

During Captain Powell’s North Las Vegas Police Department career he has held the following assignments:

• Special Projects/Training Sergeant - Services Division
• Sergeant - Population Division / Classification Bureau

In 2008, Captain Powell graduated from the 232nd Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy. He is also a graduate of the 2006 Northwestern University College for Public Safety Executive Management Program.
