The mission of the Planning and Zoning Department is to enhance the quality of life for each North Las Vegas resident and business by fostering the implementation of creative ideas and innovative programs. Click here for an Interactive copy of the Full Downtown Photo Over the last few years the City adopted a Visioning 2025 Strategic Plan and the Comprehensive Master Plan, each recommending the development of a downtown master plan to guide future growth and investment in that area. The City of North Las Vegas has hired a consultant to prepare a high-quality, creative downtown master plan / investment strategy to define and transform the downtown area into a dynamic place to live, work and be entertained. The downtown master plan shall serve to create a downtown that is a local and regional magnet to residents and visitors. It is the City’s intent to implement the strategies and recommendations provided within its downtown master plan / investment strategy within a three (3) to five (5) year period. 2006 Comprehensive Plan The City of North Las Vegas has updated its
Comprehensive Plan. The document
guides future development in the City. The update process began in early spring of 2005 and was adopted November 16, 2006. Click here for a full copy of the North Fifth Street The North Fifth Street Transit Supportive Concept Plan was approved by the City Council on April 19, 2006. The City is currently undergoing the implementation of the plan. The North Fifth Street Improvement Project is part of the implementation of the plan. North Fifth Street Visioning Workshops A series of public workshops to explore future land use alternatives along North Fifth Street in relation to transit-oriented development were held in mid-2005. Click here for Plan documents and updates Walkable Communities On June 20, 2005, the Department of Planning and Zoning was pleased to host two seminars on the topic of 'Walkable Communities.' The seminars were presented by Dan Burden, a nationally recognized expert on creating liveable communities and walkable neighborhoods.
