A 50-year resident of Clark County, Warren
VanLandschoot lives in the North Las Vegas home he built in 1977. A
member of the 1964 graduating class of Rancho High School, he was
elected in 1997 to the office of Municipal Court Judge.
Previously, Judge VanLandschoot served 28 years with
the North Las Vegas Police Department. Joining in 1969 as a motor
officer, Judge VanLandschoot was promoted to Detective in 1978, and to
Homicide Detective in 1979.
He was named the North Las Vegas Policeman of the
Year three times during his police career, and was the first recipient
of the Clark County District Attorney’s Meritorious Award for
Compassion to the Victims of Crimes.
Prior to his career with the Police Department, Judge
VanLandschoot served 6 years in the Nevada Army National Guard (Howitzer
Battery 116th Armored Regiment).
Since his election in 1997, the Judge has volunteered
his time to support the Trial by Peers program.
Judge VanLandschoot has collaborated with other North
Las Vegas law enforcement officials – as well as the U.S. Marshals Office
– to create the Life of Crime program.
The Judge teaches "Principles of Investigation,"
"Collection of Evidence," "Laws of Arrest: Search &
Seizure," and "Courtroom Demeanor" at the Southern Nevada
Law Enforcement Academy, and has been an instructor in every session of
the North Las Vegas Citizen’s Police Academy since its inception.
Judge VanLandschoot has been active in Nevada’s Little
League for 25 years. After 15 years as a coach, he became an administrator
in Central Little League, and has served as the Assistant District Administrator
in Nevada’s District Four Little League since 1997.
The Judge also served as a Scoutmaster in the 32nd
Ward of the Central Stake for 8 years.
Judge VanLandschoot and his wife of 34 years, Lynn, have
raised 3 children here in North Las Vegas.
