Kathy Pennell was named director of the North Las Vegas Library District in 2007.

As director of the North Las Vegas Library District, Pennell oversees the operations of the City's three full-service libraries -- the North Las Vegas Library, Aliante Library and Alexander Library, which will open in March 2009.

Pennell joined the City in 1981 to work in the Mayor's Office until 1997, when she became the library's administrative coordinator and library services manager. In 2000, she was promoted to be the assistant director of the library.

Pennell received her bachelor of science degree in sociology from Arizona State University. Pennell is pursuing a master's degree in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.
