Typing Certification

Dear Applicant:

The position for which you have applied requires a typing certification as noted in the position announcement.

In order to meet this requirement, your typing certification must comply with the following criteria:

_ Must be an original, photocopies will not be accepted

_ Must be on the agency’s official form or letterhead

_ Must be signed by a representative of that agency

_ Must show the date when the test was administered (test cannot be over one year old)

_ Must state that the duration of test was for five minutes

_ Must indicate the gross words per minute (Not percentile)

_ Must indicate the number of errors (Number of errors must not exceed ten)

_ Must indicate the net words per minute

_ Must be returned with the completed application prior to the closing date listed on the announcement

Your typing certification must meet the above criteria. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE CRITERIA WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FOR THE POSITION

The City of North Las Vegas does not recommend any particular agency or school for testing purposes. For this reason, we suggest you look in the telephone book, in the yellow pages section, under Employment. Most agencies will provide the testing; however, you will need to call them first to make an appointment, and ascertain fees charged.

Accurate Net Words Per Minute is calculated as follows:

Example:

Gross Words 55 Gross wpm
Minus Errors -10 Errors
= Accurate Net wpm 45 Accurate wpm

Thank you.
