Entry Level Police / Corrections Officer Positions

ANNOUNCEMENT
We will continue active recruitment for the Entry Level Police Officer/Corrections Officer positions on July 7, 2008. Please check back at that time to apply.
Applying for these positions (Note: Steps 4 & 5 are required)
1.) Read the announcement for job description, job duties, pay grades and other general job information (this information will be posted in July 2008)
2.) Read the class specification for either / both position(s) (this information will be posted in July 2008)
3.) Carefully read "Instructions for applying for Police Officer / Corrections Officer"
4.) * Following the instructions in the above document, fill out an on-line application for either / both positions. If you are interested in applying for both positions, simply check both the Police Officer and the Corrections Officer box at the top of your application. When applying for BOTH positions you DO NOT need to fill out a separate application for each position! Filling out more than one application may unnecessarily delay the processing of your application.
5.) * After completing the On-line Police / Corrections Officer application, print and save the Informational Booklet. This booklet will guide you through all phases of the application and testing processes. Be sure to keep this booklet handy at all times - it will answer most any question you might have regarding applying for either of these positions. It also includes recommendations for success, what to expect in each of the testing phases and how to prepare for each phase.
6.) Optionally, attend one of the Pre-test Seminars appropriate to the position(s) you are applying for.
Eligibility and Testing Information
The City of North Las Vegas will be accepting applications for the position of Police Officer and Corrections Officer on an open and continuous basis. An applicant may apply for one or both positions by completing one application form. An applicant MUST complete the "special" application for entry Police Officer/Corrections Officer and not the regular City application. The recruitment process for Police Officer and Corrections Officer is a highly competitive process that will include a written exam, a physical fitness exam and an oral board exam. Early preparation for the written and physical ability exams is a must. 2008 QUARTERLY TESTING SCHEDULE FOR ENTRY POLICE OFFICER/CORRECTIONS OFFICER June 2008: Test Dates: June 2 and June 3, 2008 Applicants who file applications between 3/3/08 and 5pm, 5/8/08 and meet the minimum requirements of the position(s) and the departmental standards of the North Las Vegas Police Department will be scheduled for the June 2008 quarterly testing process. October 2008: Test Dates: October 28 and October 29, 2008 Applicants who file for the October testing dates and meet the minimum requirements of the position(s) and the departmental standards of the North Las Vegas Police Department will be scheduled for the October 2008 quarterly testing process.
