Benefits
PAID LEAVE
HOLIDAYS: In accordance with NRS 236.015, legal holidays
are defined as closing of state, county and city offices, courts, banks,
savings and loan associations, public schools and University of Nevada
system. The following twelve (12) days are declared to be legal holidays
for state, county and city governmental offices:
January 1 (New Year’s Day)
Third Monday in January (Martin Luther King,
Jr.’s Birthday)
Third Monday in February (President’s Day)
Last Monday in May (Memorial Day)
July 4 (Independence Day)
First Monday in September (Labor Day)
Second Monday in October (Columbus Day)
Last Friday in October (Nevada Day)
November 11 (Veterans’ Day)
Fourth Thursday in November (Thanksgiving Day)
Friday following the fourth Thursday in November (Family Day)
December 25 (Christmas Day)
Holidays are subject to conditions covered in
Civil Service Rules & Regulations, Confidential & Appointed
Ordinances, Teamster, Police and Fire labor agreements.

Annual leave is subject to conditions defined in
appropriate Ordinance or labor agreements.
SICK LEAVE
Upon the completion of two (2) consecutive
months of service, classified new hires shall become eligible to use
sick leave and shall have two (2) days credited to their sick bank.
Thereafter, sick leave will accrue monthly at the rate of one (1)
day per month. Sick leave shall be charged for the fraction of the
day (hours) actually used. There shall be no limit to the number of
hours that can be accrued.
Sick Leave for Fire and Police is granted and
accruable according to labor agreement.
MEDICAL BENEFITS
The Teamsters Security Fund for Southern Nevada - Local 14, requires
a contribution for medical/dental/vision coverage from all employees
represented under the Teamster's Non-Supervisory, Supervisory, and Administrative
Collective Bargaining Agreements. The "Fund" reserves the
right to adjust contributons, and/or plan design without consent from
the City
Vision & Dental insurance are provided
through Vision Service Plan and Met Life or by the governing union
coverage.
EAP (THE EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM)
Counseling is provided on a confidential basis
for any personal or family problems. The facility providing this
service is dependent upon the appropriate ordinance or union
coverage.
LIFE INSURANCE
$20,000 of life insurance is provided for all employees.
RETIREMENT
All employees shall participate in
the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) of the State of Nevada.
Payment of the employees portion of the contribution is made by the
City.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION
All employees have the
opportunity to participate in a diversified 457 plan administered by
Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company. If you have an
existing 457 deferred compensation plan account with a prior employer,
you may transfer that account into the plan offered by the City at
anytime.
