Brenda Fischer is the Director of General Services & Communications at the
City of North Las Vegas. She oversees the City's General Services Department, the Communications
Department, and City Manager's Administrative Staff.
Fischer joined the City in January 2001. She was the Director of Communications until July 2008 when she was assigned the additional role of Director of General Services. Prior to joining the City of North Las Vegas, Fischer worked for the City of Henderson, Nevada, as a Human Resources Analyst and Public Information Officer. Her experience includes more than 21 years of public relations and human resource management, including 14 years in the public sector.
Fischer earned a Master of Public Administration degree, graduating with high honors, from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Information/Public Relations from the University of Southern California. In addition, she earned a Professional Certificate in Public Relations from UNLV; is a graduate of two leadership programs: the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce's Focus Las Vegas Leadership Program and the Clark County Leadership Program; and has been trained as an Advanced Public Information Officer from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Fischer is a member of the National League of Cities; Local Government Managers' Association of Nevada (LOGMAN), an interactive state arm of ICMA; the City-County Communication and Marketing Association (3CMA); the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA); the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC); the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2); and the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA).
