The Training and Safety Division is responsible for the training of all department personnel.  The Training Division conducts scheduled training for a vast variety of subject matter that is dynamic and ever changing.  Areas of training include, but are not limited to:

  • Basic and Advanced Fireground Operations
  • Command and Control (NIMS/ICS)
  • Officer Development
  • Driver Operator Training
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Written documentation
  • Mandatory Curriculums and Certifications / Recertifications
  • Liaison to Nevada State Fire Marshal Office
  • Wildland Training and Certifications

Furthermore, the Training and Safety Division is responsible for providing opportunities in the areas of formal education, professional development and leadership development.

The Training Division also provides cadet training for new hires which includes a rigorous 18 week academy program.  This academy includes, but is not limited to, the following curriculum:

  • Basic firefighter skills
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Physical Fitness
  • Nevada Firefighter I and II Certification
