Fire Department - Training

The Training and Safety Division is responsible for the training of all department personnel. The Training Division conducts scheduled training for a vast variety of subject matter that is dynamic and ever changing. Areas of training include, but are not limited to:

Basic and Advanced Fireground Operations
Command and Control (NIMS/ICS)
Officer Development
Driver Operator Certification
Emergency Medical Services
Hazardous Materials
Technical Rescue and Special Operations
Written documentation
Mandatory Curriculums and Certifications / Recertification's

Further, the division is responsible for providing opportunities in the areas of formal education and leadership development.

The Training Division also provides cadet training for new hires which includes a rigorous 18 week academy program. This academy includes, but is not limited to, the following curriculum:

Basic firefighter skills
Hazardous Materials
Emergency Medical Services
Physical Fitness
Nevada Firefighter I and II Certification
