Sam Chambers is the Assistant City Manager of Operations
for the City of North Las Vegas. He oversees the Economic Development,
Information Technology, General Services, and Parks & Recreation departments
as well as the Labor Relations Manager and State Legislative Affairs Officer.
Chambers was appointed to his position in December 2005. His prior experience
includes more than 17 years in city management. Prior to joining the City
of North Las Vegas, Chambers worked for the City of Hickory, North Carolina
as the Executive Assistant City Manager for Operations. He also held positions
of Assistant to the City Manager and Assistant City Manager for the City
of Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Chambers earned a Master of Public Administration degree, with a concentration
in Urban Management, in 1989 from North Carolina State University. He
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with an Educational Psychology
concentration, from North Carolina Central University in 1979.
Chambers is a member of the International City/County Management Association
(ICMA); National League of Cities; Local Government Managers' Association
of Nevada (LOGMAN), an interactive state arm of ICMA; and the National
Forum for Black Public Administrators.
