City officials on July 1 will launch a free prescription discount card to provide North Las Vegas residents some relief from the high cost of prescription medications. The program, sponsored by the National League of Cities, provides discount cards, offering an average 23 percent savings on the retail price of prescriptions.
The card can be used by North Las Vegas residents, regardless of age, income or health coverage. The card can be used at most pharmacies in North Las Vegas and in more than 60,000 participating retail pharmacies across the country.
“We are happy to partner with the National League of Cities to provide this assistance to everyone in our community,” Mayor Shari Buck said.
“As the cost of health care rises and people struggle in the down economy, this discount card is a great benefit,” Ward 3 Councilwoman Anita Wood said.
The free NLC Prescription Discount Card is available to print July 1 from the City’s website, www.cityofnorthlasvegas.com or at www.caremark.com/nlc. The cards will be at City Hall service counters, 2250 Las Vegas Boulevard North, and on at the sixth floor in the Human Resources Department. They are available at North Las Vegas libraries, recreation centers, and the municipal court. Click here for fast facts and answers to frequently asked questions.
